Phoenix Wright makes a comeback in the third installment of the Ace Attorney game series. However, Phoenix is not the only lawyer you will be leading as you sift through the facts to discover the truth and release your clients. In their pursuit of justice, players will investigate five brand-new cases and come across familiar and unfamiliar individuals along the way.
A courtroom setting is the setting for the adventure game Trials and Tribulations. As players progress through the game, they will experience two distinct types of phases: the first will take place in the courtroom, where players will directly question witnesses and attempt to disprove their lies with the evidence they have; the second will take place on the field, where Phoenix will talk to witnesses and investigate locations to look for clues that may assist his client’s case. Both of these phases will take place in the game’s primary setting.
As in Justice For All, players will occasionally be tasked with disabling the “Psyche Locks” people use to conceal information from Phoenix. These locks are activated when someone has something they genuinely don’t want Phoenix to know. It depends on the information’s significance as to how many waves will be placed on the person, and these locks can only be opened by providing the necessary proof. And much like in the previous DS versions of the game, players may use the stylus to select menus and evidence, and they can even use the microphone to yell out “OBJECTION!” and “HOLD IT!” when they wish to present evidence. This feature is included in all of the DS versions of the game.
