There are two different types of gameplay in Pirates: The Key of Dreams. There is a story mode and a multiplayer battle mode, in which you can compete against up to three of your friends. When playing the single-player campaign, you can choose three different ships, each with its unique combination of defenses and offenses. The stages are packed with a wide variety of foes, such as boathouses that may produce a limitless number of boats until they are destroyed, gun towers, bomb boats that explode in your direction if they come into contact with you, mine boats that drop floating mines, and many more. You can pick up some unique weapons throughout the journey, such as rockets, saw blades, and flamethrowers, in addition to the cannonball fire that is your usual mode of attack. You will also have the opportunity to recruit new crew members, each of whom will contribute to your ship’s capabilities growth.
In the game’s multiplayer mode, you and up to two other players can compete against each other in a deathmatch-style competition.
