The updated version of Baroque, a post-apocalyptic role-playing game in which all hell has broken free on earth. As the game begins, the world has been ravaged by a heat wave, leaving nothing but demon-infested ruins and a mysterious “Nerve Tower” that many believe contains the key to preventing the end of the world. You play as an amnesiac survivor who enters the tower for information about their identity and the cause of the apocalypse.
The game is a dungeon-crawler RPG in which the player attempts to clear each floor of the tower of monsters, gaining experience and items along the way and only occasionally leaving the building to acquire weaponry and equipment from a few NPCs.
The PS2 remake introduces new floors, items, monsters, and a wholly updated polygonal engine (the original used 2D sprites to depict characters and monsters). Additionally, the perspective has been altered from first-person to third-person, and the gameplay has been changed to make the game more action-RPG-like than the original.
