Crazy Taxi is an arcade-style game in which the player controls a taxi driver who weaves through packed streets, sidewalks, and even underwater in a crazy and frantic rush to deliver passengers on time. The courses are mostly placed inside cities, where there is a lot of traffic and pedestrians (who can’t be run over because they dive away). The primary purpose is to get as many clients to their destinations as possible on time. Circles represent available customers, and the color denotes the distance and fare they offer. Green rides are long and expensive, while red rides are short and inexpensive.

A timer swiftly runs out in the primary Arcade mode, and customers might be picked up to replenish it. Dangerous driving tactics are encouraged. Customers can provide extra tips for fast and dangerous driving, and players can break traffic restrictions. However, they can only be cashed if the client arrives at his destination on time. Similarly, the prize at the end of a ride is determined by the time remaining, as each customer has a timer. The city is loaded with slopes and jumps, and the driving model in the game is pretty loose. Because no damage may be done to the car, driving as quickly as possible is encouraged. While moving, players can experiment with the gears to achieve two amazing tricks: a crazy drift and a crazy boost to go faster.

In addition to the Arcade mode, there is an Original mode and a Crazy Box mode in which particular goals must be completed on closed-down courses. In the standard methods, you can disable the timer and play for several minutes. After the race, the player is awarded a D, C, B, or A license with S for exceptional performance. There is a new course for home consoles and interactive lessons from the arcade version. There are four cabs and drivers available. The automobiles have various statistics, as do the drivers’ racing dispositions. The soundtrack features The Offspring and Bad Religion (not available on the Xbox 360 version).
