Defender

The iconic arcade game of the same name has been given a modern makeover in Defender. After the invasion of Earth by the Manti bugs, the few remaining humans have been forced to take refuge in colonies dispersed around the solar system. Even the Manti colonies are in jeopardy of extinction as more and more Manti swarms continue to arrive. You have been enlisted to assist in saving the surviving colonists and putting an end to the Manti insect infestation. There are a total of six unique spacecraft available to pilot, and each one has its own set of flight characteristics as well as its own set of impressive armaments. In addition, power-ups for your weapons and shields are hidden throughout each of the missions. As in the game’s first iteration, the Manti will prioritize kidnap and transforming any humans they come across into mutants to bolster their offensive capabilities. To improve your chances of success, you must free any people caught before this event takes place and transport them to a secure landing zone. You will receive some credits for rescuing colonists, which you may put toward purchasing more powerful weaponry or shields for your spacecraft in the future. Additionally included are several video extras that provide insight into the historical context of the film as well as its production.
