The globe is frightening in the 2050s as terrorists, drug czars, and outlaw regimes govern, utilizing violence and deceit as instruments in their bid for worldwide conquest. A fatal illness known as “gray death” is sweeping the globe, and the only known remedy is a drug known as “Ambrosia,” developed by the VersaLife corporation. However, supplies of Ambrosia are limited, and world governments, particularly the United States, closely monitor and control who receives this treatment. In response to these events, the French terrorist organization “Silhouette” attacks the Statue of Liberty, a historic symbol of brotherhood between the French and Americans. The United Nations Anti-Terrorist Coalition (UNATCO) was founded in response to this incident. Its purpose is to combat terrorism and maintain global peace by establishing an underground headquarters on Liberty Island. JC Denton is a nano-enhanced agent trained for UNATCO duty. While JC’s brother Paul is already an active agent, JC is just starting when the National Secessionist Forces (NSF) raid a supply of Ambrosia at UNATCO headquarters.
Deus Ex is a dark cyberpunk game that combines first-person shooter and RPG gameplay genres with stealth and puzzle-solving components. The player takes on the character of JC Denton, an anti-terrorist agent with UNATCO. He must engage with folks, pick up weapons, and perform goals while up against an elaborate worldwide conspiracy. While JC’s mission framework is fixed, he can be customized in areas such as weapons, technical skills, and physical prowess. Completing missions grants the player skill points, which can be used to improve JC’s abilities in eleven different disciplines. The player can select to increase JC’s damage with various weapons, improve his lock-picking or computer-hacking skills, and so on. Each of these disciplines has four levels of expertise.
