The energy situation on Planet Midway is getting worse because of Burnital Industries. In a last-ditch effort to fix the problem, the mayor begs Dr. Muto, a crazed scientist, to employ his Genitor 9000 machine. The mayor does so only with reluctance. However, the device is responsible for destroying a significant portion of Planet Midway. Muto needs to travel to the four planets that Burnital Industries controls and search for the isotopes, Terra, and fragments of the Genitor 9000 dispersed among those worlds. Only then will the earth be repaired.
The gameplay’s core is centered on acquiring the objects above. The isotopes can be obtained from various locations, while the Terra pieces must be earned through the completion of multiple challenges. One must first defeat the planet’s overlord to get a part of the Genitor. In addition, there are seven pieces of scrap metal hidden on each planet for Muto to find. When Muto has collected all the scraps, he can employ a new piece of equipment, such as rocket boots or an invisibility suit.
In addition to his abilities to jump and shoot zaps at his foes, Dr. Muto can transform into various other species by using his Splizz Gun. The shapeshifting abilities of Muto include those of a mouse, spider, gorilla, fish, and pterodactyl. This is essential since the species have unique skills, such as the mouse squeezing into small areas and the pterodactyl soaring.
