The situation for Prince Pixel is dire, and his parents have been taken captive by an evil monster named Monster. To save his parents from danger, Pixel is forced to rely on the abilities of his best friend, Graffiti, and his pet dog Pastel. The plot follows Pixel as he travels through 22 levels, each challenging him to complete various objectives with the assistance of magical creatures he has created using his wand.
The gameplay is similar to that of a standard action role-playing game, in which the player fights enemies, navigates platforms, and collects items that will be useful to them as they progress through the game.
The Prince can bring to life anything he wants with the power of Graffiti. Anything at all. The user can create monsters to control using Graffiti, which gives them complete creative freedom. For instance, if they create a monster with enormous feet, that Monster can jump very high. On the other hand, if they make a creature with substantial spiked arms, that Monster will most likely be pretty robust.
The creation of monsters is highly open-ended, meaning the player can create whatever they choose and “bring them to life.” Players can develop various components of a nightmare, affix those components to each other in whatever way they see fit, add a few accessories, paint the details, and specify whether an element is a hand, a leg, or an attacking device. The only constraint is the player’s creative potential.
