A potent talisman known as the Idol of Sorrow was responsible for transforming the once-holy land, formerly the home of the Forest Folk, into the cursed Land of Disaster many years ago. As a result of the king of Heladin’s misunderstanding, the idol’s dark powers were reawakened, and it became a symbol of peace once more. One day, the prince of the Azalin Empire, Devian, gets a visit from a mysterious outsider. Soon after the stranger offers him the Idol of Sorrow, Devian learns that he has been charged with returning the idol to the Land of Disaster and determining a way to break the curse there.
The Ancient City is the fourth installment in the King’s Field series, and it is an action role-playing game played from the first-person perspective. Its main gameplay features are similar to those of its predecessors in that the player must explore huge linked areas and fight hostile creatures using a variety of weapons and magical abilities. Swords, clubs, axes, and arrows are the several types of weapons in this game. Attacking with the same gun over and over again will eventually allow you to use it for more powerful attacks because it will have a higher level. Handling magic is very similar, with spells gaining potency with each use and Devian’s total number of magic points increasing accordingly. The condition of one’s weapons and armor will deteriorate with time, but a blacksmith can fix them. Every non-player character (NPC) can be assaulted and killed, much like in the games before it. In contrast to his forebears, the protagonist can submerge themselves in water for a predetermined time.
