Kya and her brother Frank have been transferred to another dimension and are separated upon arrival! Kya meets (and is saved by) the world’s native creatures (the Nativs), while Frank is taken by a terrible enemy known as the Wolfens under Brazul’s leadership. To make matters worse, Kya discovers that the Wolfens are imprisoned and changed into peaceful Nativs and that Brazul is her long-lost father! Kya must now embark on a quest to save her brother while restoring the Wolfen to their Nativ form and defeating Brazul.
Kya: Dark Lineage is a game of action and adventure. You have control over Kya and must explore the vibrant environment she has come in. This bizarre environment comprises floating islands with numerous passageways, platforms, deadly life forms, and other hazards. Winds are vital in many places, and you’ll need to exploit them to your advantage by floating in them through tunnels, over gaps, or slowing your descent into free fall. There’s also some puzzle-solving; you’ll need to find stuff to utilize, jump on various platforms, buy items in Nativ City, and more to progress to new sections.
You’ll also have to fight frequently because the Wolfen is numerous and can be found protecting many of the regions you need to get through. You can battle using your fists and tools you can obtain (such as different bookies, boomerangs, and combat wristbands). After fighting a Wolfen, you can perform a magic spell to return it to its Nativ form, which will then return to Nativ City. When you return to the town, several of the Nativs will open a shop; when new shops open, you can purchase equipment and power-ups to aid you in your mission. Alternatively, instead of constructing a shop, some Nativs may create a challenge in the city. Earn money by wagering and fulfilling challenge objectives (or simply practicing a challenge).
The tale will unfold as you continue through the game until you are (hopefully) successful in your quest!
