Mashed is an intense and fast-paced top-down racing arcade game. On a total of thirteen different tracks, which must first be completed for free in the single-player mode, you will need to use all of your driving talents to not only survive but also come in the first place using one of the four available cars, which range in speed from very sluggish to extremely quick.

You need to complete the bronze, silver, and gold challenges for each track before you can move on to the following way in the single-player mode. This is in addition to your brief battles versus the computer-controlled opponents. In Mashed, there are seven different game modes, and eight of those modes can be played simultaneously in multiplayer. From the standard race events, in which your only objective is to finish first, to the battles, in which you must eliminate all of your opponents before they do, to the ultimate survival mode, in which nobody likes you very much, the game offers a wide variety of gameplay options.

You can make things much simpler for yourself by picking up one of the nine various types of power-ups and weapons strewn over the racetrack. There is everything you might need to eliminate the competitors from the race, ranging from straightforward oil slicks to devastating mines and mortars. Of course, they also have options available to them in terms of equipment. Because you can only take a certain number of blows, you must eliminate the possibility that they may utilize those attacks against you. And to make matters even worse, there are several short corridors (or the track itself is just one short corridor…) where there is nothing on either side of the way, allowing you or your opponent to fall a considerable distance.

But Mashed’s actual meat and potatoes is the split-screen multiplayer option, in which as many as four people can compete against each other on a single computer. If you cannot recruit four companions, you can either fill the empty spots with bots or leave them unfilled. The additional eighth game mode is only accessible through multiplayer and is similar to CTF except with vehicles. To earn a point, you must first secure the flag and move your car as far away from the adversaries as possible. Players who have already been eliminated from the competition can use a helicopter that flies above the track to fire missiles at the vehicles that are still competing to maintain their interest in the game. You’ll be able to get even with the other racers before the competition ends, giving them yet another thing to be concerned about. However, when you are configuring the race, you have the option to turn off this feature.
