Shinobido: Way of the Ninja is an action-stealth game comparable to the popular Tenchu series. The competition aims to accomplish missions undetected by guards, watchdogs, or even innocent villagers. It would be best to approach your foes from behind, as your character is ineffective in direct combat.
In contrast to Tenchu, the game is mainly non-linear, allowing you to choose the missions you wish to partake in at nearly any time. There are three landlords whose tasks you can undertake. Depending on your decisions, each landlord’s confidence in you will increase or decrease. You can use alchemy to construct your equipment, such as strength potions and smoke bombs, in this game. Shinobido also provides your hideout, where decorative trees and traps can be positioned to repel invading foes.
The narrative is set in the sixteenth century in the Japanese province of Utakata. You assume the role of the ninja Goh, the sole survivor of the Azuka Clan, who has completely lost his memory and is incapacitated near a river. After discovering a magical stone containing fragments of the events preceding his awakening, he concludes that the only way to learn more about his past is to locate the remaining stones.
