You pick off the story of Kate Walker just where the last game, Syberia, left off, with her continuing her quest. Kate decides to embark on a voyage with Hans Voralberg aboard his futuristic train rather than return to her life as an attorney in New York City. Their destination is the frozen northlands of Syberia.
On their route to the mythical region of Syberia, where Hans believes the extinct mammoth race may still exist, Kate, Hans, and Oscar, the comedic automaton, will travel through four distinct regions. There will be many challenges for the three of them to overcome as they travel through the harsh yet gorgeous winter landscapes. The player is tasked with conversing with the various NPCs that Kate comes across and solving situational, inventory-based, and mechanical challenges. The user interface consists of a single cursor, and the visual aesthetic, which consists of pre-rendered backgrounds and 3D character models, is highly similar to the original game.
