In the dating simulation video game Brooktown High, the player assumes control of a created character, either male or female. The surface can be customized in various ways, including their appearance and personality, which influence how the other students at the school respond to them. The primary objective is to amass significant power by the end of the senior year and establish oneself as the most well-liked student at the institution.
The player navigates through the game, and the primary objective is to make friends, gain girlfriends and boyfriends, and connect with various social circles on campus. These social circles range from the nerds to the jocks, preps to the misfits, and feature twenty male and female characters that the player can date. In addition, a meter displays to the player what the non-player characters (NPCs) think of him.
The players are given several options to choose from to engage with these characters, and the outcome of the dialogues is determined by how the player responds to the questions and how the NPC interprets their responses. They can also take dates to other locales, such as the mall, the beach, or the theater, and play minigames related to courtship, such as shopping, cracking jokes, dancing, tongue wrestling, and strip blackjack.
