The first Castlevania game, Rondo of Blood, was remade into the video game Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles. While the graphics have been updated to be in 3D, the gameplay remains relatively consistent with the 2D platforming style of the original. Additionally, it includes a Boss Rush mode that, once finished three times, allows the player to unlock a minigame.
Unlockable material in the game includes the base game and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and both of them can be played after completing specific challenges. In this iteration of Symphony of the Night, the player is given control of Maria, the game’s protagonist, similar to how it was in the Saturn version. Still, this iteration also features updated voice acting and sound effects. Because it does not include content unique to the Saturn console, this Symphony of the Night version is more faithful to the understanding released for the Japanese PlayStation.
