Conception: Please Give Birth to My Child! is a Japanese role-playing game (jRPG) in three dimensions. Players fight in a randomly generated underground with the help of star children, magical helpers that combine the protagonist’s soul with the souls of other characters in the game. The game is the first thing made by the Japanese studio Spike Chunsoft, which was made official in 2012 when Spike and Chunsoft joined forces. The game kept going in 2013 and came out for the PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS.

Itsuki Yuge, an average high school student, is the game’s main character. Under mysterious circumstances, he is sent to a magical world called Granvania, where evil and dirty beings are a threat. The main character finds out that he is the chosen one who can kill the monsters. If he doesn’t destroy the last one, he won’t be able to go home. He ends up in a particular school where he meets 13 heroines, each representing a sign of the Zodiac. His job is simple: he and the others must face the dangers and beat the monsters scaring people worldwide. He uses a particular machine to make stellar children for each of them. These are magical beings that fight alongside their “parents.”

Fans of the genre will be familiar with the Persona series, similar to how the game is played. There are several parts to the game. The first one is like a typical adventure visual novel. Players can get to know each heroine better in different scripts and ask her out on a date. The second module is a relatively traditional turn-based dungeon crawler. We look at the action from a third-person point of view as we move through a randomly made underground. We can see our enemies on the screen, so we can surprise them or stay away from them. Most enemies can be hurt by a specific attack, which can help us plan how to fight them. We are with at most one heroine and a few star children during the battles. The level of closeness with a partner and their skills affect how many children they have. We can get better tools in the city and send children out to find the necessary things.

The graphics don’t stand out, but that shouldn’t stop people from playing. Much care went into making the game’s two-dimensional parts, and the game engine looks worse when it comes to three-dimensional environments, characters, and enemies.
