It was one of the first Sony MLB licensed games to be released on the PSP, and it featured all of the major league teams that were active at the time, in addition to the best players of the day, in all-new animations explicitly produced for the PSP. This game is a streamlined version of Major League Baseball 2006 (MLB 2006). It comes with the usual game modes, such as Quick Game and Season option, and a Multiplayer option that allows two players to compete against one other utilizing the Ad Hoc.

The game will have several new gameplay concepts, some of which are Release Point Pitching with a Confidence meter, which will decide the success percentage of the pitcher based on the player’s stats and skill level. The more effective pitches produced within a given zone, the easier the angles get; failing to make them causes wild pitches or delivers a line drive straight to the batter.

Another option is the Playmaker Fielding Marker, which, in contrast to other games, uses the player’s statistics to assess whether or not typical plays, such as pop-ups, are considered easy. It does this by providing the player plenty of opportunities, such as presenting the landing spot more quickly and over a broader area. Players with lower skill levels would receive less warning and have a smaller catching radius, making executing even the simplest plays more challenging.

The Branch Point Technology made it possible for players to plot the direction of a throw while they were still in the process of collecting the ball. This technology was also used for baserunning, giving it a smoother feel when running and sliding. It was introduced into the game as part of a continuous transition flow.
