NHL 98 is a unique sports game inspired by the annual hockey tournament in the Americas. The game was developed and published by EA Sports and was first released in 1997. On the PlayStation version, the game offers two modes: practice and tournament for players to experience. They choose their favorite team to start practicing. The training process helps players get familiar with the equipment, how to control the ball, and coordinate among the players on the field. Once ready, players come to the official tournament with other famous teams. They are divided into several groups to find the best teams. The match starts after a signal from the referee. The two teams make the match through two rounds. For each ball put into the ultimate goal of the opponent, the player will receive a point. At the end of the game, the team with the higher total score will gain the right to go forward. The tournament continues until you find two teams with the best results. The team that wins this match will become the champion and receive the prestigious cup from the competition.
