You can install either or both
The difference is that the Steam version has native widescreen support, modern OS compatibility, some redone graphics and removed LAN multiplayer support
– Tested OK on Windows 10 & 11
WARNING: The retail game might not run with some AMD GPU driver versions (tested and confirmed on 24.3.1 Ryzen 7 5800H, might work with older driver and/or newer in the future), because… AMD
The Steam version might take some time to load if you have it on high settings, don’t panic
If you have problems when having installed both versions, delete the configuration file Stronghold2.GraphicsSettings.xml in “My Documents\Stronghold 2”
