This is the PC version (Eidos Platinum Collection edition from 2000) of Final Fantasy VII along with the mod manager 7th Heaven.
To install and play this using 7th Heaven follow the included installation instructions carefully. Everything needed to follow the instructions is included in the archive.
Disclaimer: Although we’ve done our best to make sure every element of this entry works together to provide the best possible experience in reliving this wonderful classic, please understand that both we, the uploaders and you, the end user, are dealing with a version of the game that is quite old and relies on external software (such as 7th Heaven) to work on modern systems. Sometimes things will not work as expected, it comes with the territory. In essence: YMMV.
Recommended Mods: (the ones used in the screenshots from mine)
[Tsunamods] SYW Unified FMV (30fps) – AI upscaled and adjusted FMVs to be as close to vanilla as possible but in HDCosmos Limit Break – AI upscaled and widescreen adjusted field textures (this one offers the most stunning difference of all mods)
[Tsunamods] SYW Unified Battle Textures – AI upscaled and adjusted battle textures to be as close to vanilla as possible but in HD
[Tsunamods] SYW Unified Spell Textures – Done from scratch textures made to mirror what the vanilla ones look like but in HD
[Tsunamods] SYW Unified Worldmap Textures – AI upscaled and adjusted worldmap textures to be as close to vanilla as possible but in HD
[Tsunamods] SYW Unified Minigames Textures – AI upscaled and adjusted minigame textures to be as close to vanilla as possible but in HD
[Tsunamods] SYW Unified UI – Done from scratch menu and UI made to mirror what the vanilla one looks like but in HD
ChaOS – Replaces (nearly) all character models (including NPCs) with non-chibi versions that match what they would look like during battle
60 FPS Animations for ChaOS – Adjustments for ChaOS mod to work in 60 fps
NinoStyle Chibi Field Models – for those of you who prefer an improvement to the chibi style instead of getting rid of them
NinoStyle Chibi Fixes and Additions – helps make the mod more compatible with other mods (most notably the Shinra Cut one)
[Tsunamods] Idle Animations – Customizable mod that adds animations when characters have been idle for a while (like how Sonic does)
[Tsunamods] Cosmo Memory – Complete sound overhaul that improves sound effects (while still sounding vanilla) and adds ambient sounds to the field and battle, footsteps based on floor type, and voiced actions during battle (disabled in this setup)
[Tsunamods] Wizard Staff – Fixes spell names to be like in modern FF games instead of Cure1, Cure2, etc. Eg. Bolt2 = Thundara
Nitpick – Fixes small details that hardcore FFVII nerds will appreciate (check mod description in Catalog for full list of changes)
60/30 FPS Gameplay – Allows for full 30 or 60 fps during battle, field, and worldmap (works in conjunction with other mods)
To answer some questions that will inevitably be asked:
Can this be made portable or is it install only? – Unfortunately, it’s install only because of the strict way 7th Heaven behaves. YMMV but you can try moving the files around after installing it.
Do I really need to keep the extra almost 2 GB of game discs? – Yes, again because of the way 7th Heaven behaves the game can’t be launched unless one of the 3 discs is found to be inserted. (You can delete the installation disc if you like tho)
Can this be played using Steam Deck/Linux? – I’m sure it’s possible but it’s gonna be a multi-step process. I’m not knowledgeable since I don’t have a Steam Deck, but perhaps some users in the comments can help.
Is the original PC versions music that bad? – I mean I definitely don’t prefer it over the original, but some of you might like it depending on how you grew up playing it.
To show this version can actually be played properly with mods (provided everything falls into place perfectly) here’s 20 minutes of me playing with the mods in the screenshot applied. (Any stuttering is due to the screen recorder app and wasn’t the game)
Sorry that the screenshots are all from within the first few minutes of the game. I didn’t have the time to take shots of moments later in the game.
