Pokémon Broken Spirits is a gen 3-styled fangame made in RPG Maker XP with Pokémon Essentials v20.1 which follows the protagonist in a character-driven story through a fleshed out alternate Pokémon world. Instead of chasing gyms, the player’s journey more closely resembles that of traditional RPGs.
Story
The story revolves around a teenager caught up in grief upon losing everything. Feeling betrayed by their religion they venture into the nearby ruins, the remains of a civilization eradicated for its unorthodox beliefs. Unexpectedly they end up taking part in the scheme of a ruthless archaeologist who seeks to enter a sealed temple, which kicks of a series of events that pit the protagonist against the theocratic tyranny ruling the region and other forces using the concept of “truth” as a means for control.
