The plot of Pokemon ReDX stays true to Pokemon Red, but there are plenty of new events and characters to keep things fresh. In addition to the familiar rivalry with Blue, you’ll also have a second rival along for the journey. If you play as a boy, your new rival is Jade, and if you play as a girl, it’s Jasper. While Blue remains the cocky, competitive rival focused on defeating you in battle, Jade/Jasper is more friendly and focuses on completing the Pokédex.
Professor Oak tasks you, Blue, and Jade/Jasper with beta testing his greatest invention, the Pokédex. Along the way, you’ll work to bring down Team Rocket, with the HGSS Admins now appearing in Kanto. Additionally, Looker has arrived in the region, trying to uncover Team Rocket’s motives. He’ll assist you from time to time as you progress.
As you take on the Gym Challenge, the stakes are higher than ever because Kanto’s Champion’s throne is vacant. The Pokémon League has issued a challenge to all trainers, giving you the chance to claim the throne and become the next Champion!
